Xavi Vierge will replace Iker Lecuona in the HRC Suzuka 8 Hours line-up

Gold & Goose

After Iker Lecuona was declared unfit, Xavi Vierge has been called up to Honda's factory Suzuka 8 Hours squad.

Xavi Vierge has been drafted into the Honda HRC factory Suzuka 8 Hours Team for this weekend after Iker Lecuona was declared unfit.

During Race One at the Hungarian World Superbike Round, Lecuona was involved in a multiple-rider incident, in which he sustained fractures to his left distal forearm.

Due to these fractures, Lecuona was unable to complete the weekend at the Balaton Park Circuit and can no longer participate in the 46th edition of the “Coca-Cola” Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race.

Lecuona will be replaced by his Team HRC World Superbike teammate, Vierge, who also has previous experience with Honda at the Suzuka 8 Hours.

The Spaniard was involved in Honda HRC's Suzuka 8 Hours victory in 2023 with Takumi Takahashi and Tetsuta Nagashima.

This year, Vierge will partner up with LCR Honda Castrol MotoGP rider, Johann Zarco, and will be reunited with two-time Suzuka 8 Hours winner, Takumi Takahashi.

The iconic event is scheduled to take place this weekend on the 3rd of August.
