Two-time World Supersport Champion Dominique Aegerter has been declared unfit after a crash in Race One at Misano.

GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team rider Dominique Aegerter has been declared unfit after his crash in Race One at the Emilia-Romagna World Superbike Round.

On the opening lap of the race, Aegerter and Bahattin Sofuoglu crashed at Turn Eight, which ended both of their races immediately.

This Swiss rider was taken to the medical centre after the crash, he has since been diagnosed with an 'anterior neck wound an dleft knee contusion'.

Aegerter will now be forced to sit on the sidelines at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the Superpole Race and Race Two on Sunday.

This absence from the circuit comes at a poor time for the two-time World Supersport Champion as his future with Yamaha and in World Superbikes is uncertain.

Aegerter now finds himself 15th in the World Superbike Championship after 16 races, with a best result of seventh place in Race One at Assen.

Despite being involved in the incident, Sofuoglu was able to walk away from the incident and will participate in the two races on Sunday for the Motoxracing Yamaha Team.
