'I simply don't like it' - Team HRC review the new Balaton Park Circuit

Team HRC

Team HRC have been left disappointed after a first visit to the new Balaton Park Circuit ahead of its World Superbike debut.

Ahead of the first World Superbike Round at the Balaton Park Circuit in July, several World Superbike teams were on track in Hungary for a test.

Team HRC were one of the squads at the new circuit, but only completed half a day at the venue. Across the time they had on track, Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge completed 20 and 26 laps respectively.

After their first experience at the new World Superbike venue, the two World Superbike riders and their Team Manager all admitted that they 'don't like' the track.

"Within two weeks I’ve ridden three different version of the CBR," Lecuona stated.

"My race bike, the Suzuka 8 Hour version and now the street version. It’s been fun! Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the Balaton track, I simply don’t like it!"

"The track could be better, but at least today we managed to make some laps," Vierge said.

"Riding a bike is always a good plan, so I learned a new circuit while enjoying riding the street version of the CBR.

"Also, I did a bit of moto training, which was useful as I continue my recovery ahead of Donington."

"Balaton Park has done an amazing job – the facilities are very nice,” said Team Manager, Jose Escamez.

"That said, it’s a challenging layout, and from a safety perspective, there may still be some improvements to be made. The riders completed a few runs on the stock bikes to get familiar with the layout.

"We’re very grateful to Team LCR for their support with this test."

The Balaton Park Circuit will host the eighth round of the World Superbike Championship. After the opening six rounds of the season, the Team HRC riders of Lecuona and Vierge find themselves eighth and ninth in the Championship.
