'It's getting closer and closer' - Marc Marquez discusses when he hopes to wrap up the MotoGP title

Gold & Goose

Marc Marquez edges closer to the 2025 MotoGP World Championship with a double victory at Balaton Park.

At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Marc Marquez dominated the weekend as he topped every session other than the Friday afternoon Practice session.

After running away with a double victory at the Balaton Park Circuit, Marquez admitted that the weekend was 'comfortable' for him.

"I cannot lie, today was comfortable," Marquez told MotoGP.com after winning the Hungarian Grand Prix.

"I mean, today I was riding in a very good way, it is true that anything can happen, as we saw in the first two corners. But after that moment, I cooled down and tried to warm my rear tyre, because I was using the medium.

"From that point, I tried to build into the race, and when I took the lead, the pace was good, I was flowing on the track, and I was on the good lines. So, today was a very good day.

"But it is not normal to win every weekend, to win every Sprint Race, it looks like it, but it is not. The win arrived today, but I still need to understand that some weekends someone will be faster than us."

On the opening lap of the race, Marquez lost the lead to Marco Bezzecchi and suffered contact with the Italian. The Spaniard described the incident as 'a scary moment' but accepted full responsibility for it.

"We arrived at the first corner, I braked late and stopped the bike well," he explained.

"But I released the brake because I did not know how much control Bezzecchi had, or if there was another guy on the inside.

"I released the brakes, and I turned in late. I knew I would lose the position, but I preferred not to take the risk. At Turn Two, it was my mistake, because the rider behind needs to be careful about the front rider.

"But I did not expect him to slow down so much, and with the angle, I was not able to brake, and we had the contact. We escaped from the moment, but it was a scary moment."

It is now mathematically possible that Marquez could win the MotoGP World Championship in two rounds at Misano.

However, the eight-time World Champion wants his first shot at regaining the crown in Japan.

"Now every time it is getting closer, and closer, but we need to keep the same mentaity," Marquez stated.

"Yesterday, when speaking to the Spanish journalists, they gave me the numbers. I wish to have the first opportunity in Japan or Mandalika. Because if I have it in Misano, it means my brother had a disastrous weekend in Catalunya, and I want the best for him."
