'I am not sad... it was a positive weekend' - Toprak Razgatlioglu reflects on the end of his winning streak

Gold & Goose

Toprak Razgatlioglu's winning streak came to an end at MotorLand Aragon after Nicolo Bulega did the double on Sunday.

On Sunday at the Aragon World Superbike Round, Toprak Razgatlioglu's 13-race winning streak came to an end as Nicolo Bulega got the better of him in the Superpole Race and in Race Two.

In the Superpole Race, Bulega outdragged Razgatlioglu to the line after a battle that raged on from the start to the chequered flag.

However, in Race Two, Bulega's win was more convincing as he dominated proceedings after Razgatlioglu made a mistake.

"We started by fighting with Nicolo [Bulega], which I really enjoyed, but I made a mistake at Turn Seven," Razgatliogli told WorldSBK.com.

"I tried to downshift, but I did not feel the engine braking; I could only feel the rear pushing the front. It was just a mistake. Anyway, even if I had carried on fighting with Nicolo, I only had a small chance at winning, because at the last corner the Ducati has a big advantage

"But I tried everything again in the race, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. The last six laps were not enjoyable, but I hope everyone enjoyed it before that.

"I did my best this weekend. I feel motivated because I won the first race, so I finally won in Aragon, this was good for me, especially this weekend."

Despite finishing second in both races on Sunday, the two-time World Superbike Champion is still satisfied with his work after winning his first race at Aragon on Saturday.

"I do not have any other options at the last corner, I only have one line," Razgatlioglu admitted.

"In the Superpole Race, I tried to stay in, but it was not enough as the Ducati had a higher level of grip. Their bike has good turning, good grip, and good acceleration; it is a good package for Aragon. I tried to do my best at the last corner.

"But I am not sad, because I know Ducati, and everyone else knows as well. I kept fighting, especially at the last corner, because three laps before I realised that he was strong there."
