Francesco Bagnaia went from first at the Japanese Grand Prix to last in the Indonesian Sprint Race in the space of a week.
A week after dominating the Japanese Grand Prix, Francesco Bagnaia finished last in the MotoGP Sprint Race at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
The Italian rider has struggled for feeling all weekend, and qualified down in 16th place, before plummeting to the back of the field at the start of the Sprint Race.
Bagnaia admitted that he feels like 'a passenger' on his factory Ducati, and does not believe he is in control.
"Directly, yes, but the feeling is not," Bagnaia told the media after failing to score a point on Saturday.
"I am not riding, I am just a passenger on my bike. I cannot control anything; I am just having a lot of movement. Four times I arrived at the first corner and corner ten without any brakes, three times I had to close the throttle.
"It was difficult to imagine a race like this, and a weekend like this, considering what happened one week ago. Luckily, we had that kind of race one week ago, because every doubt people had was gone. I have nothing more to demonstrate this season, the only weekend I had a good feeling, I won everything.
"Now, I am back to feeling from Misano and the rest of the season. Today, for me, was over. I was thirty seconds behind the leader, I was 13 seconds behind the second last."
When questioned about this sudden change and how confusing it is, Bagnaia could not find a reason for his issues this weekend, as his bike is the same as Motegi.
"I don't understand it, I thought I would arrive here with the same feeling as Motegi," he explained.
"It is true that in Motegi we did things with the bike, but now with the same bike, it is working like before. I don't understand it.
"I hope that the feeling tomorrow is like Motegi, so I have a chance at finishing in the top five. Otherwise, I will go from 15th to 20th like today, so I really hope so."
