Dominique Aegerter will miss the Estoril World Superbike Round after suffering a training injury and will undergo surgery.
The GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team has announced that Dominique Aegerter will miss this weekend's Estoril World Superbike Round due to injury.
Aegerter has broken the fifth metacarpal in his right hand in a training accident this week. The Swiss rider requires surgery on the injury, which will take place on Thursday.
Yamaha will not replace Aegerter for the 11th round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, and it is unclear whether he will be back for the season final next weekend.
"I have some bad news to share," Aegerter said in a post on social media.
"This week, I hurt my hand in a training accident, and I will miss Estoril this weekend. I have broken the fifth metacarpal in my right hand will have surgery on the injury tomorrow.
"Sorry, my team, all the fans and my sponsors. to come back stronger."
This is the second round of the 2025 season that Aegerter has been on the sidelines for, as the Swiss rider was injured in the opening race at the Emilia-Romagna Round.
This injury comes at a crucial time for Aegerter's career as he has lost his ride at the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team, and is searching for a ride for the 2026 season.
The two-time World Supersport Championship currently sits 11th in the 2025 World Superbike Championship and has a best result of seventh place, which he has achieved on two occasions.
