Iker Lecuona has been given the OK to try to return to racing this weekend at the Estoril World Superbike Round.
After 75 days on the sidelines, Iker Lecuona will attempt to return to racing this weekend after recovering from injuries he suffered at Balaton Park.
The Honda HRC rider was part of the collision on the opening lap in Race One at the Hungarian World Superbike Round in July, and has not raced since.
However, this weekend the Spaniard will attempt to return for the penultimate round of the 2025 season at Estoril, as he has been declared fit for this weekend.
"Following surgery at the end of July (29th), everything has gone as expected with my recovery," Lecuona said.
"Particularly over the last three weeks, I’ve made good progress in terms of my strength and arm rotation and have been working every day to improve. All the medical checks throughout this period have confirmed that everything is progressing well.
"This past Monday, I travelled from Andorra to Valencia for a final check, and the doctors gave me the OK to try returning at Estoril. That said, I’ll take things very easy, treating it like a test and without any particular expectations, and then we’ll see how it goes over the weekend.
"Obviously, I know I can’t fight for the podium as I did last year, but I really want to finish the season in the best possible way for Honda and for my team."
Lecuona currently finds himself 14th in the 2025 World Superbike Championship, despite missing four rounds of the season due to injury.
At the conclusion of the year, Lecuona will depart from the Honda Racing Corporation and will switch to the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad for the 2026 season.
