Nicolo Bulega congratuilated Toprak Razgatlioglu on the 2025 World Superbike title, and has begun looking to 2026.
The 2025 World Superbike Championship went down to the wire for the first time since 2014 as the final race of the season decided the title fight.
At the start of the season, Nicolo Bulega and the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad stole the headlines and were the dominant force. However, from the middle of the season, Toprak Razgatlioglu and BMW turned things around and went on a winning streak.
Despite Bulega winning all three races at the final round of the season, the Italian was not able to win his first World Superbike title, and for the second year in a row he watched Razgatlioglu claim the Championship.
"I feel good for the weekend, but bad for all of the season," Bulega told WorldSBK.com after the season finale at Jerez.
"Toprak [Razgatlioglu] and BMW worked better than us, so they deserve this title. Congratulations to them.
"I am a bit disappointed because we could have been Champions. But anyway, racing is racing, and I am just looking forward to next year."
'I did not do it on purpose...'
At the final round of the season there was a dramatic moment between Bulega and Razgatlioglu in the Superpole Race, as the Italian and the Turkish rider collided.
In the incident at Turn Five on the opening lap, Razgatlioglu ended up on the ground and in the gravel. However, Bulega and his Ducati went on to win his 13th race of the season, before backing it up in Race Two in the afternoon with his 14th win.
"For sure, I did not do it on purpose," he explained when asked about the incident.
"I always overtake Toprak in the middle of the corner, because this is my riding style. His riding style is to brake very hard, I cannot overtake him in the braking, because his braking is incredible. My strong point is the middle of the corner and corner speed. I always try to overtake Toprak at that point.
"I did it yesterday, at the same moment, at the same corner, all the same. I also did it today [Sunday], but unfortunately, Toprak crashed. We always make very great races, always very aggressive, we are always on the limit, and it is not easy when you are at this speed with big bikes.
"I am sorry, but I was just trying to overtake him, and then go at my pace."
'I am just preparing for next year!'
Nicolo Bulega will remain in the World Superbike Championship with the Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad for the 2026 season. With Toprak Razgatlioglu on his way out of the series, the Italian is now the favourite for next season.
"It was an incredible season, every weekend we were on the podium, which is incredible," he stated.
"But we were unlucky that we found Toprak was always incredibly strong, and also the BMW was always working very well. So, congratulations to them, I have nothing to say; I am just preparing for next year."
