Pedro Acosta believes the tyre management involved in the Valencia Grand Prix will benefit him.
On Saturday at the Valencia Grand Prix, Pedro Acosta was back on the Sprint Race podium as he finished in second place in the 13-lap race.
The Spaniard qualified on the second row of the grid in fifth place, and made an electric start as he was up into second place by the second corner, and was fighting with Alex Marquez.
However, a front-end moment caused Acosta to lose touch with the leader and see him settle for second place.
"Well, we know it is super tough to overtake here in Valencia," Acosta told TNT Sports after the Sprint Race.
"I knew that my only chance [to overtake] was in the first two laps. So, I was super focused on the start, then it is true that I was quite aggressive at Turn Two.
"Also, when I was trying to follow Alex [Marquez], I lost the front at Turn Eight. It was quite risky today with how cold it was, and also with the soft rear.
"I think it was necessary to come back with the bike to the box, and analyse everything for tomorrow. But anyway, it was a very good Saturday."
The main Grand Prix on Sunday will be 27 laps and will involve a lot of tyre management for the MotoGP riders, something that Acosta believes will benefit him.
"It will be a really different race," he explained.
"There will be much more tyre management, and I think the direction of the bike will be better for us."
The two-time World Champion is yet to win his first MotoGP race, and when asked if he has the chance to on Sunday, he would not say yes or no.
"If the result has to come, it will come," he stated.
"I will try to make a good race, a good start, good overtakes, and then, like I said, if it will come, it will come."
