Jorge Martin was back on track across the weekend at the Valencia Grand Prix and completed the Valencia Test.
After suffering a collarbone injury at the Japanese Grand Prix, Jorge Martin was back on the sidelines until the Valencia Grand Prix at the end of the season.
The Spaniard was not able to complete the entire Valencia Grand Prix on Sunday, the 16th of November, as he was saving himself for the Valencia Test on Tuesday, the 18th of November.
Missing the end of the Valencia Grand Prix ended up being the correct decision for Martin, as he had multiple major parts to test during the afternoon, after poor track conditions in the morning.
"There were a lot of new parts to try for us, so it is a pity we lost the morning, because for sure we would have understood better," Martin told MotoGP.com after the Valencia Test.
"We tried lots of different parts, but I feel good. Some things felt good and really made a difference. Now it is time to analyse with the engineers and try to understand which way to go as it is an important decision for 26."
'In my condition, it was not easy to understand...'
Aprilia rolled out a new aerodynamic package for Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi during the Valencia Test. The 2024 MotoGP World Champion did not believe it was 'a big difference', but he does not believe his physical condition allowed him to test correctly.
"Not a big difference, for sure, the feeling was good," he stated.
"When you make such a big change, you need to understand it in a good way, so I think in my condition, it was not easy to understand whether it was better or not. There were some good points, some worse points.
"But we need to analyse really well, I don’t know what Marco thought, as I have not spoken to him yet. But my feeling was good, but not 100%."
Another major part that Martin had to test immediately during the Valencia Test was the chassis that Aprilia debuted in the latter stages of the 2025 season.
Compared to his comments on the aerodynamic package, Martin had a clear feeling about the new chassis.
"We had to shortcut a lot of the time today with the things to try," he explained.
"I started straight away with the new chassis and I felt super good, so this is a thing we are looking at for next season, so this is a good step. Then we were continuing with new things, but there were a lot of different things in a short time, so it was difficult to understand what was best."
'I will try to be more than ready for next season...'
The 2025 MotoGP season was a disaster for Martin, as he spent the majority of the year injured, but he was happy to end the year and complete his target of riding at Valencia.
"I did my target, which was to ride this weekend and get some feeling," he said.
"I am happy, and I am happy we have finally ended this season. I will try to disconnect a bit as I am tired and I need that time.
"But I will try to be more than ready for next season, as it will be an intense season. I hope to be in an amazing physical condition to fight."
Martin will be back on track with the rest of the MotoGP field at the Sepang Test next year between the 3rd and 5th of February.
