The Bimota KB998 should be a bike that suits the tracks on the BSB calendar when it makes its debut in the championship in 2026, Alex Lowes thinks.
The 2013 BSB Champion rode the KB998 in its debut WorldSBK season in 2025, finding success on the bike and finishing sixth in the final riders’ standings.
During that debut season, the KB998 has developed a reputation for being one of the sweeter handling Superbikes in the class, characteristics that would, theoretically, make it a favourable package in BSB, where pure a deficit in pure horsepower can be overcome by good handling characteristics, exemplified by Yamaha’s four titles in the past six seasons.
This is certainly the opinion of Lowes, who led Race 1 at the Donington World Superbike round briefly before crashing out at Craner Curves back in July, and who finished four times on the podium during the 2025 WorldSBK season.
“I think it’ll be a good bike, good chassis for the BSB tracks,” Lowes said, speaking to Crash.net at Motorcycle Live.
He added that the line-up of Max Cook and rookie Joe Talbot is one to be optimistic about: “A couple of young riders [Max Cook, Joe Talbot] on the bike that are hungry, I think that’s great for the team, and I think the more we – my job as a Bimota rider – can grow the brand, grow the project, let people see the bike, the better, because I think it’s a great bike and I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.”
