Noah Dettwiler has confirmed that he will race in 2026 following his crash at the 2025 Moto3 Malaysian Grand Prix.
Dettwiler will return to racing with the Kuja Racing Team in the Supersport class of the Italian CIV series, riding a Ducati Panigale V2.
The news follows on from the crash Dettwiler suffered in Malaysia last November when, on the sighting lap before the Moto3 race in Sepang he was hit by Jose Antonio Rueda. Both were sent to hospital and suffered cardiac arrests, Dettwiler also sustaining significant internal bleeding that required the removal of his spleen among other injuries, including to his legs.
Dettwiler returned home to Switzerland a few weeks after the crash, by which point Paolo Simoncelli had revealed that he was about to finalise a deal with Dettwiler for the Swiss rider to race for the SIC58 Squadra Corse in the 2026 Moto3 season. Dettwiler, though, ultimately decided to decline the offer despite Simoncelli waiting for him to recover before making a choice on his 2026 plans.
Dettwiler’s Kuja Ducati ride will see him compete outside the MotoGP paddock for the first time since 2023, after two years in the Moto3 World Championship. It will also see him make a start in production racing.
“I am really happy to start this new adventure with Kuja Racing,” said Dettwiler.
“I know the history and professionalism of this team, and I am convinced it is the ideal environment to express my full potential.
“I can’t wait to get on the bike, meet the crew in the box, and start working hard to take the team to the positions it deserves. See you on track!”
The position held for Dettwiler by Simoncelli at the SIC58 team was taken by Leo Rammersdorfer, who will make up one half of an all-rookie line-up at the Italian-based Honda team in 2026 alongside Irish rider Casey O’Gorman.
