Brands BSB: Stapleford betters lap record in first Supersport practice

Profile Triumph's Luke Stapleford topped the Motorpoint British Supersport timesheets by going under Smiths Triumph's Billy McConnell's lap record set back in 2012. His time of 46.753 seconds was set with the chequered flag out.

Adelaide rider McConnell was 0.096 of a second adrift of Stapleford with team-mate Graeme Gowland a further tenth behind. Australian McConnell set the pace through the second sector of the Brands Hatch Indy circuit but Stapleford's consistency across the lap helped him clinch top spot.

Techcare Triumph's Luke Mossey ended the first free practice session fourth quickest, the last rider to go under the 47 second barrier. Mar-Train Yamaha's Alistair Seeley jumped ahead of Supersport rookie Luke Hedger in the closing minutes of the session with a lap of 47.024 seconds. Gearlink Kawasaki's Hedger went two tenths quicker than yesterday in the official test.

Appleyard Macadam Yamaha's Jake Dixon ended the session seventh quickest, 0.434 of a second behind the pace. The Essex lad had a trouble free session today, after a water pump issue plagued his test yesterday afternoon. Luke Jones was eighth quickest on his self prepared Triumph, ahead of Sam Hornsey and Taylor Mackenzie.
