Profile Triumph's Luke Stapleford once again topped the Motorpoint British Supersport time sheets, as he edged closer to posting the fastest-ever Supersport lap around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
The Leicestershire rider posted a lap of 46.610, under a tenth shy of Mar-Train Yamaha's Alistair Seeley outright lap record, set back in the summer of 2011. The Northern Irishman ended the final free practice session second quickest, five hundredths of a second behind Stapleford.
Northumbrian Graeme Gowland moved up to third quickest with the chequered flag out. The Smiths Triumph rider was 0.005 seconds behind Seeley, putting him in contention for pole position come tomorrow afternoon's qualifying session.
Teccare Triumph's Luke Mossey was fourth quickest, rounding out a top four covered by just 0.078 of a second. Behind Mossey, yet still beneath the 47 second barrier, is Smiths Triumph's Billy McConnell. The Adelaide rider remained to be quickest in the second sector with Seeley and Stapleford topping the first and third sector times. The three combined together would give a 45.998 lap, good enough for fifth on the Superbike grid.
Gearlink Kawasaki duo of Luke Hedger and Glenn Irwin ended the final free practice sixth and seventh, ahead of Appleyard Macadam Yamaha's Jake Dixon. Anvil Hire TAG Triumph's Sam Hornsey was ninth quickest ahead of the FutureMoto Kawasaki EVO machine of Sam Coventry.
