Oulton BSB test: Harris to return to Superstock 1000 class

Karl Harris is making his return to the MCE British Superbike series and will race at Oulton next weekend in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 class, racing for the Moto-Breakers Kawasaki team.

He’s a stand-in rider for the crocked Nikki Coates who was injured after a crash at Brands Hatch last week. But Bomber, as he’s more commonly known hopes that racing in the Stock 1000’s could be a regular thing.

“It’s mega to be back as I haven’t been on a bike since October, we are not looking at lap times but it should not take me long to get back to speed,” said Harris, speaking to bikesportnews.com at Oulton Park.

“I have been speaking to the Moto-Breakers guys about the North West and the TT for the past few months and then Nikki Coates got injured. We spoke to each other on the phone for me to ride in place on Nikki and all I would need to do is pay for tyres - and I couldn’t refuse the option.

“Hopefully we can have a good outing next weekend, and I would like to do it for the rest of the year as that would be great, especially if we could get some sponsorship for the tyres."

Harris is a busy man – not only has he taken on racing in the Superstock 1000’s he is also hoping to compete in the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT. He’s confident he will be at the TT, but he’s waiting for some sponsorship to be confirmed for the North West.

“The North West is a bit questionable at the moment, but the TT is near enough definite that I will be there. But I’m looking forward to competing in the Superstock 1000 next week - and we will see what I can do.”
