Smiths Triumph’s Billy McConnell has described his first Motorpoint British Supersport win of the year a ‘big sigh of relief’. The Adelaide rider is confident he can push for victory once again this afternoon with some strong setup onboard his Triumph 675.
McConnell ‘loves’ the Oulton Park circuit and will be looking to make it four podiums out of four race starts at the Cheshire race track, after he picked up a double podium this time last year.
“It was a big sigh of relief for me and for the team. We’ve put so much effort in. I was just pushing from the front and it turned out to be a win without both of my rivals. I’m really happy with my setup, we’ve been working hard on it from the test onwards,” said McConnell, speaking to bikesportnews.com, at the track.
“Onwards and upwards we hope, we’ve got some good points for the championship now. I just need to try keep the ball rolling. I love this circuit, Oulton has always been really good to me - I picked up two podiums here last year. Another win would be nice.”
