Tsingtao’s Danny Buchan is literally riding high in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship after extending his lead in the series by 34 points, after securing another win at Brands Hatch.
The youngster hasn’t had the best of seasons at the GP track, but he has put all his demons behind him, and successfully held Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran and Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson at bay to take maximum 25 points on Sunday – making it four wins out of five for the local lad.
“I’ve never really got on with the GP track here at Brands even though it’s my favourite circuit. The goal was to come here and take away as many points as I could, so to take the win is immense for me and the Tsingtao Racing Team,” said Buchan.
“The ZX10R was superb throughout the race, even though I thought we might struggle in the heat. Yes I got it a bit sideways on the final turn, but I held on for the win."
“I put in a few fast laps early on and thought it would be enough to gap the field, but came round to see ‘plus zero’ on my pit board and thought, ‘what have I got to do here?’ Every lap was like a qualifier but I’m delighted to have extended my lead in the championship to 34 points over Jason.”
