Thruxton BSB: Seeley tops Supersport free practice

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Alastair Seeley topped the combined Motorpoint British Supersport free practice time sheets, ending up just half a second adrift of Alex Lowes’ 2010 lap record.

The Northern Irishman jumped to the top with ten minutes remaining, setting a lap of 1’17.445. The Carrickfergus rider will be hoping to pick up his first ever victory around Thruxton, after never managing to take the chequered flag at the Andover track. Smiths Triumph’s Graeme 'Dead Cert' Gowland could only manage to get within 0.145 of a second of Seeley, with championship leader Billy McConnell a further tenth back in third place.

Profile Triumph’s Luke Mossey ended the session fourth quickest, just a quarter of a second behind the pacesetter. Performance of the day must go to Alex Olsen aboard his Power Projects Racing EVO machine. The Triumph rider managed to finish the session fifth quickest and just four tenths adrift of Seeley’s quickest time, along with being by far the fastest EVO rider.

Brands Hatch pole position man Jake Dixon was sixth fastest on his Appleyard Macadam Yamaha, just ahead of Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford. Eighth fastest was Tyco Suzuki’s Taylor Mackenzie, who ended up just 0.004 of a second behind Stapleford.

Rounding out the top ten, which was covered by just under a second, was Brands Hatch podium finisher Luke Jones and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin.
