Teccare Triumph’s Luke Mossey clinched his first outright Motorpoint British Supersport pole position of the year, smashing Stuart Easton’s two year lap record on his way.
Cambridgeshire’s Mossey leaped to the top of the time sheets at half race distance and wasn’t challenged throughout the rest of the session. Smiths Triumph’s McConnell and Gowland began improving their times lap by lap but the pair ended a quarter of a second adrift of Mossey.
McConnell overcame yesterday’s setup issues to pick up second on the grid, teammate and championship rival Gowland was third.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin pulled in during the session suffering with a clutch problem. However, the Northern Irishman was able to get back out on track, eventually qualifying in fourth place. TAG Triumph’s Sam Hornsey put his World Supersport wildcard experience to practice claiming fifth, ahead of Luke Hedger.
Tyco Suzuki’s Taylor Mackenzie was bumped back to the third row of the grid late in the session, forcing him to settle for seventh place. Acumen Triumph’s Luke Jones is just under a second adrift of Mossey’s impressive lap in eighth, with Mar-Train Yamaha’s Alistair Seeley, still struggling with fitness, rounding out the third row.
