Silverstone BSB: Weaving crowned Moto3 champion

Jordan Racing’s Jordan Weaving is the new Motul British Motostar Moto3 champion. The tall South African only needed to finish second in his class today to take the title, and he did just that at Silverstone.

He didn’t win the Moto3 race - that accolade went to his main championship rival Redline KTM’s Joe Irving. But Weaving had done enough today, and is overjoyed with his year so far.

“It has been a good year, but we have had our ups and downs with the bike. The team have done a great job and this weekend at Silverstone has been fantastic. This has been a good way to end the weekend as I had some bad news, that one of my good friends died in a motocross accident in South Africa, so this title is great for me,” said Weaving, at the circuit.

Meanwhile in the race, FAB-Racing’s Bradley Ray was the overall winner, with Irving and FPW Racing’s Taz Taylor taking up the final step of the rostrum. Ray was also the 125 winner, with Irving taking the 125 spoils.

Banks Racing’s Edward Rendell has already won the 125 championship, but he still finished on the podium in third. Young American rider, Jayson Uribe completed the Moto3 rostrum, just behind Irving and Weaving.
