Britain’s Cal Crutchlow has dismissed rumours he could return to the WorldSBK paddock in 2021 should a MotoGP contract not be forthcoming.
The LCR Honda man, who looks set to be replaced by Alex Marquez at the end of this season, has received plenty of offers from Superbike teams but doesn’t want to go back.
“I had options and I really appreciate it but although I think it’s a great series I won’t be racing there next season,” Crutchlow told bikesportnews.com.
“I do however think that the option to go was a good one and something that interested me.”
The Isle of Man resident did not reveal which teams had been on the phone but the Yamaha squad are looking for a replacement and Crutchlow won three races for them during his sole full year in the series.
Crutchlow is in talks with Aprilia and at least one other factory for a MotoGP job in 2021 and also has the backing of boss Carmelo Ezpeleta.
The Spanish pensioner is a big fan of the Coventry man and needs a British rider in the class to fulfill contractural obligations with BT Sport, which has pumped millions into the Dorna coffers.
