Cadwell BSB: Race weekend stats, facts and pub ammo

Your routine round-up of facts, statistics and interesting titbits to keep you ahead of the game for the Cadwell Bennetts British Superbike weekend…

With the exception of the shortened 2020 season, Cadwell Park has held a round of the MCE British Superbike Championship every year since 1996, a total of 51 races.

The 51 races have seen 23 different race winners and 39 different riders stand on the podium.

This will only be the second time three races have taken place at Cadwell Park in a single weekend, the previous time being in August 2010.

Tarran Mackenzie is the only rider to have scored points in every BSB round to take place so far in 2021.

Jason O’Halloran took his 12th career BSB win at Donington Park to go joint 14th with Sean Emmett on the all-time winners list

Tommy Bridewell is now just two podiums shy of a career total of 50, his win at Donington Park the 48th time he’s stood on a BSB podium.

Two podiums at Donington Park have moved Jason O’Halloran on to a career total of 39 which matches the number achieved by Michael Laverty.

Two podiums at Donington Park have moved Glenn Irwin on to a career total of 21, the same total as John Hopkins.

Bradley Ray’s second place finish in the second race at Donington Park was his first time on a BSB podium since Oulton Park in September 2019.

Andrew Irwin’s third place finish at the last round at Donington Park was his first podium finish this season and his first since Donington Park in October last year.

Fourth place in the same race was also Josh Brookes’.best result of the season but he’s now gone 15 races without standing on the rostrum.

Tommy Bridewell became the fifth rider to win a race in this year’s British Superbike Championship season.

Ryan Vickers has scored more points in the first five BSB rounds this year than he did in the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons.

Joe Francis (fifth), Storm Stacey (sixth) and Dean Harrison (eighth) all scored career-best BSB finishes at the last round at Donington Park.

Leon Haslam has the record number of wins at Cadwell Park with nine followed by Tommy Hill (6), Josh Brookes (5), Chris Walker and Steve Hislop (both 4) and James Whitham, Michael Rutter, Shane Byrne, Alex Lowes and James Ellison (all 2).

Peter Hickman took his first BSB career win at Cadwell Park in 2014. It was also the first BSB victory for the RAF Regular & Reserve team.

Tommy Bridewell also took his first career BSB win at Cadwell Park in 2014.

With Danny Buchan missing the weekend due to injury, Brookes, Bridewell and Hickman are the only riders on the entry to have previously won BSB races at Cadwell Park.

Shane Byrne has the most number of podiums (14) at Cadwell Park followed by Leon Haslam (11), Josh Brookes (10), Michael Rutter and Tommy Hill (both 9), John Reynolds, Chris Walker and Ryuichi Kiyonari (all 8) and Michael Laverty (7).

Double race victories have been achieved at Cadwell Park on eleven occasions – James Whitham (1996), Chris Walker (1998), Steve Hislop (2001 & 2002), Ryuichi Kiyonari (2006), Leon Haslam (2008 and 2018), Tommy Hill (2011 & 2012), Alex Lowes (2013) and Josh Brookes (2015).

The current lap record was set in race two in 2017 when Lee Jackson lapped at 1m26.478s, 90.75mph on the Smiths Racing BMW.

Second in the same race gave Jackson his first ever BSB podium.

Yamaha and Ducati are the most successful manufacturers at Cadwell Park with 14 wins each followed by Honda (12), Kawasaki (8) and Suzuki (3).

Kawasaki’s last win at Cadwell Park was in 2019 with Danny Buchan.

Ducati also last won at Cadwell Park in 2019 with Josh Brookes.

Yamaha’s last victory at Cadwell Park was in 2017 with James Ellison.

Honda’s last win at Cadwell Park came in 2014 with Peter Hickman.

Suzuki’s last win at Cadwell Park was in 2010 with Tommy Hill.

BMW have never won a BSB race at Cadwell Park.
