Ryan Vickers continued his good form at Cadwell Park on Saturday morning with the RAF Regular & Reserve Kawasaki runner topping the third and final British Superbike Championship free practice session which took place in damp conditions.
The 21-year old posted a lap of 1’34.997s, some nine seconds slower than his table topping time yesterday which illustrated the conditions, but that put him a healthy 1.317s clear of Josh Brookes whose return to form continued on the VisionTrack Ducati.
Honda Racing’s Glenn Irwin headed the leaderboard for the first half of the 20-minute session with Rory Skinner slotting into second on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki but in the final tem minutes Vickers took control.
Championship leader Jason O’Halloran (McAMS Yamaha) briefly nosed ahead of him with seven minutes to go but Vickers soon reclaimed the number one spot and continued to get quicker as the session wore on.
The final five minutes saw Brookes move up to third and then second and team-mate Christian Iddon also enjoyed a positive outing as he ended up third, which pushed Irwin back down to fourth.
Taylor Mackenzie, who’ll have to go to Q1 later today, took fifth on the second McAMS Yamaha with O’Halloran eventually having to settle for sixth.
Local ace Lee Jackson (FS-3 Racing Kawasaki) posted the seventh quickest time with Dan Linfoot (TAG Racing Honda), Andrew Irwin on the sole Synetiq BMW and Gino Rea (Buildbase Suzuki) completed the top ten.
Tommy Bridewell only completed one lap on the Oxford Products Racing Ducati whilst Bjorn Estment was black flagged during the session after smoke started to come from the Powerslide Motorcycles Suzuki.
