Donington BSB: Brookes does the double

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes did the MCE British Superbike double at Donington Park today, taking away maximum podium credits while Alex Lowes and Tommy Bridewell confirmed their Showdown spots.

Brookes fended off charges from Samsung Honda's Michael Laverty throughout the 20-lap second outing while Tommy Hill could do nothing about the leading pair and had to settle for a lonely third place.

Bridewell, meanwhile, sat behind the WFR Honda pairing of Alex Lowes and James Westmoreland for a majority of the race but elected to nip ahead in the closing stages to take fourth place from Lowes.

Stuart Easton rode to an heroic seventh place as he is still nowhere near back to full strength after his various operations this year. Luca Scassa was eighth, Jon Kirkham ninth and Chris Walker completed the top ten.

Padgett's Honda man Ian Lowry saw his Showdown challenge dissolve in race one when he crashed out and the former chef could only muster a 16th-place finish in the second outing. Noriyuki Haga put in a valiant effort with his broken collarbone and finished 12th.
