Donington Park continues £1m works programme

Donington Park is continuing its £1m programme of winter upgrades in readiness for the opening MCE British Superbike meeting of the season over the Easter Bank Holiday.

Starting in the paddock, major expenditure on improved drainage has been made to clear the pit garages and a new ring drain installed around the Paddock Suite facility to remove excess standing water. Competitors will note new Paddock Two water stand pipes have also been implemented for use by race teams.

A further run of the important safety investment in the FIA-standard debris fencing has been installed on the outside of Hollywood corner, while the barrier on the infield at the Craner Curves has been moved back to increase run off space.

Further FIA specification debris fencing is now installed in front of the new spectator banking on the infield side of Schwantz curve. This spectator banking at Schwantz will open in the summer, as will the new flat top banking inside McLeans, offering fans first ever unique views of the eastern end of the circuit.

Between McLeans and Coppice, drainage at the new, open for summer 2015 tunnel has been further improved as part of the internal roads investment, while at the Esses, the gravel trap has been extended to FIM requirements and further new fences have been added.

“We have made a significant investment to further improve our facilities at the circuit over the winter. I know all visitors to the circuit, be they teams, drivers, riders, spectators or officials, will all appreciate them throughout the very exciting season we have ahead of us, starting on Easter Weekend with British Superbikes,” said Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate.
