Joe Talbot has released a worrying update ahead of the Donington Park British Superbike Test.
Ahead of the second British Superbike pre-season test, Joe Talbot has confirmed that he will not be on the entry list for any class.
Talbot was supposed to be riding alongside Kyle Ryde and Bradley Ray in the OMG Racing team in the 2025 British Superbike Championship. However, with the team's latest restructuring, he has been left without a ride ahead of this season.
In 2024, Talbot finished second in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship and got a well-deserved promotion to the British Superbike Championship for this season. However, what was meant to be a dream year for the young rider has turned into a nightmare.
"For those asking, I will not be riding at Donington," Talbot said on his social media channels.
"After many attempts and phone calls, I still could not find myself a ride. As soon as something pops up for me, I will let you know.
"More than devastated to not be going testing on the Superbike, but trying to find other solutions. Also, it is not looking promising for me to be riding at Round One.
"Thanks for the messages but hope this clears somethings up."
On TNT Sports across the Qatar Grand Prix weekend, Stuart Higgs, the Series Director at BSB, announced Kyle Ryde and Bradley Ray's plans for the 2025 season. He also alluded to the fact that it seemed that Talbot would be in the British Supersport Championship on a Honda.
"We've got Joe Talbot in the mix as well, a young rider who cut his teeth in our Superstock Championship, he will probably not be on a Superbike," Higgs confirmed on TNT Sports.
"But it is looking like he will go into the British Supersport Championship on a Honda so fingers crossed for that."
But it now seems clear that whatever deal was in the works behind the scenes has not materialised, and Talbot remains on the sidelines ahead of the new season.
Joe Talbot's latest statement:
Talbot took to social media once again today (17th of April) to 'clear a few things up' regarding his offer to ride a Honda in British Supersport.
"Hello everybody I just would like to clear a few things up and put everybody in the same picture," Talbot said.
"Alan Gardner, the owner of OMG Racing, has helped me for the last three years. Recently, OMG Racing has had to change its plans due to unforeseen circumstances.
"I no longer have a seat on the OMG Racing Superbike, but Alan has lent me a Honda Supersport bike, and has also said I can use spare parts they have. He has also said he would help me financially towards a crew chief and a mechanic.
"To go racing at this level, you need a number of willing and able people. At this late stage in the game it's really difficult to find these people as they are already working with other race teams. We are constantly working on this solution."
