Fresh from his podium-winning exploits at the Isle of Man TT, Josh Brookes' endured a difficult return off The Mountain and back to BSB as he laboured to a trio of results outside the top six at Knockhill.
Collecting a pair of ninth place finishes and an eighth, the FHO Racing rider was far from the form that had him winning at Silverstone and Oulton Park earlier in the year.
Losing ground in the title race he led after Round 1, Brookes finds himself down to fourth and 27 points adrift of leader Tommy Bridewell in the overall standings.
Knockhill’s the only circuit on the current calendar that the Australian’s never won on so it’s clearly not one of his happy hunting grounds, having taken similar results on other machinery in the past.
He wasn’t too disillusioned with the results on the BMW M 1000 RR but was equally frustrated with the outcome.

“It's been a difficult weekend to comment on really, it’s not been the results we wanted,” he told BSN.
“We stayed on and finished all the races apart from a slip off in Sunday morning warm up, so in one way we’ve got points in all three races and were in the top-ten in all of them.”
“But it’s also been a frustrating weekend as we’ve not been able to make progress and fight for the higher places.
"We’ve tried to remain positive, make changes, always fighting to improve even if it’s just one sector, or one area of the bike to improve.”
“It just doesn’t seem to come here at Knockhill. We’ll now regroup as a team after a busy period with BSB and road racing, and we can head to Snetterton where hopefully we can look forward to some better results.”
