Going into the 2024 British Superbike series finale Kyle Ryde is the new Championship leader.

Kyle Ryde ends his home round at Donington Park with two race wins and a third place. The #77 came into Round 10 of the 2024 season in second place in the Championship but leaves Donington as the series leader.

After winning Race One on Saturday Ryde was disappointed with a third place in Race Two. However, he managed to end his weekend on a high as he won the final race of the weekend in Race Three.

Ryde said: "After the Friday and Saturday that we had here I was disappointed with third in Race Two. I came so close and I actually got to the lead at one point. Like I said earlier it shows how far we have come this season to be annoyed at a third place.

"I made amends in Race Three, I started from third and chipped a few people off in the Melbourne Loop. When I got to the front I tried to break a few people, but Glenn (Irwin) kept passing me at the end of the back straight. It was hard work and I used a lot of rear tyre to keep him behind me, when I got the gap and had Danny (Kent) behind me I thought I was in trouble. In the first and the second sector, I wouldn't say I was useless, but I felt it on the bike. I basically won Race Three from being fast through the chicane and the last two hairpins! I am glad to win that race and the Championship lead is a big bonus."

Ryde now heads to the season finale as the British Superbike Championship leader for the first time. The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider has a four-point lead with three races to go. After only managing to finish in third place last time out at Brands Hatch Ryde is confident for Brands Hatch.

"I learnt a lot from Ryan (Vickers) at Brands Hatch last time on the Friday and the Saturday. I made a big step on Sunday and finished third twice after being pants on the first couple of days. We have a great setting to go to Brands with and we know we can finish at least third, wanting to win the Championship might find me a few more tenths. I am confident for Brands we should be good!"
