MALLORY BSB: ANDREWS FEARS CHICANES WILL DAMAGE WRIST

MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews is fearful Mallory Park's three chicanes may well prove too much for his injured wrist at this weekend's British Superbike round.

The Evesham rider found out at Knockhill he had broken the scaphoid bone in his left wrist after a testing crash at Snetterton and will not be able to undergo surgery until the end of the season. Andrews has had some laser treatment on the injury (see below) but fears Mallory may have to be a damage limitation exercise.

"Because Mallory has three chicanes and a hairpin, that is going to put a lot of stress on my wrist and I am pretty worried about it. I'm in pain as it is and I reckon the braking and direction changes are going to prove very difficult," said Andrews, talking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

"I am hoping that physio at the track over the weekend might help but two races in a day is going to be a killer. I don't reckon there's going to be much chance of a podium so it's going to have to be damage limitation but I will be pushing as hard as I can, like always.

"If I can have some more laser treatment before Brands Hatch, that might start to help the bone knit together but I will have to have a bone graft eventually."
