Snetterton BSB: Maximum score sees Byrne lead series

PBM Kawasaki’s Shane secured maximum points after doing the MCE British Superbike race double at the Snetterton 300 circuit, leaving the quadruple-champ a very happy rider this evening.

Before the race weekend Byrne was second in the overall championship standings, with JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison leading the series, but after easing to both race victories at the Norfolk track he bagged the maximum, 25 points after a faultless ride this afternoon.

The Lambeth born rider has a seventeen point advantage over Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes, and is feeling comfortable and confident onboard his ZX-1-0R after clinching his fourteenth career double.

“It feels pretty good to be honest, and after the first race I felt that my rhythm was much faster, and I felt that if I was able to have a clean race then I knew I would get quicker, and the bike was faultless,” said Byrne at the track.

“I was anticipating a tougher race and Josh was next to me on the starting grid and thought maybe Jason would have had a battle from the front row, then I chipped away and I tried to run constantly and try and do everything I needed to do - I was chilled and I enjoyed it.

“Today was a nice day, and everything was really comfortable and the team worked really hard, and hopefully onwards and upwards.”
