JPL Racing's Josh Owens is now the new 125cc British Champion. The Aintree rider finished thirteenth overall in the HEL Performance British Motostar race at Assen, and that was enough for him to take the 125 crown this afternoon.
But it was Redline KTM's Scott Deroue was victorious in wet conditions at his home track and finished the race in first, ahead of Banks Racing's Ed Rendell and FPW Racing's Jorel Boerboom.
Race one victor, Woodhouse RS Racing's Taz Taylor did lead the charge and was looking to bag his second race win of the weekend, but Deroue was just too strong and on the penultimate lap made his way into the front of the pack.
Taylor did fight back, but he fell on the final lap at Meeuwenmeer and with the young Brit out of the points it awarded Deroue a 59 point advantage at the top of the Moto3 Championship table.
The race turned into a six lap dash as the initial race was red flagged as rain started to fall, quite heavily onto the track. Taylor was not the only racer to crash on the final lap, fellow compatriot Repli-Cast's Charlie Nesbitt fell at Ramshoek. Van Der Valk, Brouwers, Polden, Dubbink and Horsman completed the top ten.
