Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford stormed to his seventh Motorpoint British Supersport pole position of the year after going half a second quicker than anyone else.
The diminutive rider leapt to the top of the timesheets with ten minutes remaining but looked to be under threat by Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon with five on the clock.
The talented teen, fresh from his win at Oulton Park, was on course for pole position but during his lap, rain was starting to fall in pit lane.
He arrived to the final Geert Timmer Chicane only to tuck the front end and end in the gravel trap meaning he remains on the second row of the grid.
The whole field came down pitlane with five minutes still remaining due to the rain which meant Stapleford secured pole for the seventh time before the chequered flag was out.
He is joined on the front row by his teammate Sam Hornsey and Floridian James Rispoli.
Despite two broken toes, Kyle Ryde fronts the second row of the grid ahead of Dixon, who walked away from his crash, and rounding out the second row is Northern Irishman Glenn Irwin.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger heads the third row of the grid in seventh, with Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb recovering from a big off yesterday to take eighth.
Ben Wilson starts from ninth on the grid and Team Traction Control’s Joe Francis, moving up from the Superstock 600 class and stepping in for the injured Andy Reid, heads the fourth row in tenth place.
