Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford is within two points of being crowned Motorpoint British Supersport champion after his eleventh win of the year clinched a Dutch double at Assen.
Starting from pole position, Stapleford was pushed back to fifth place during the first few laps, not wanting to push with the track still drying.
However, as the track dried, the multiple race winner’s pace proved to be too much for everyone else as he scythed his way through to the lead in just two laps.
Once at the front, the gap continued to widen all the way to the chequered flag. He was followed home by Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin.
After CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde finished fifth, Stapleford extended his championship lead to 98 points, meaning he needs just two points from the final four races at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Stapleford has missed the podium on just three occasions this year, twice due to not finishing and the other due to him finishing fourth.
The Sinope rider is currently looking at options in British Superbikes, World Supersport and the Spanish Moto2 Championship for 2016, but no decisions have been made yet.
Haribo Starmix Triumph’s Joe Collier also wrapped up the British Supersport EVO Championship with his 17th EVO podium of the year.
Collier came through in fourteenth place overall at the Dutch circuit, wrapping up a dominant championship campaign, which saw him also finish off to podium on only three occasions.
