Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford clinched a comfortable Motorpoint British Supersport win, eventually coming home eight seconds clear having posted the fastest ever British Supersport lap.
Stapleford grabbed the holeshot from pole position and was never pressured, opening out three seconds over the first three laps.
Behind him, a battle began to rage for the final podium places with no less than five riders fighting it out.
Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon, Profile Triumph’s Sam Hornsey and Traction Control’s James Rispoli all had their turn at leading the battle but as the quintet came through to start the last lap, Dixon was in control.
However, Rispoli didn’t take long to dive up the inside, with Dixon replying immediately. Dixon’s move was aggressive and pushed the pair wide allowing Glenn Irwin to storm through to second on his Gearlink Kawasaki.
Dixon and Rispoli came fighting back and pushed Irwin back to fourth as they closed in on the chequered flag
It came down to the Geert Timmer Chicane, with Stapleford having already taken the win, and the Floridian Rispoli came from a long way back to get up the inside of Dixon and claim second place by a tenth of a second.
Profile Triumph’s Sam Hornsey pushed Dixon to the line but he missed out on his debut British Supersport podium by just 0.079 of a second.
Irwin crossed the line in fifth ahead of Kyle Ryde, who drops 84 points adrift of Stapleford in the title chase, in sixth.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Wilson managed to get the better of Danny Webb for eighth place before Joe Francis and EVO winner Ben Stafford rounded out the top ten.
