Smiths Triumph’s Graeme Gowland was the fastest rider during the Motorpoint British Supersport second free practice session at Brands Hatch this afternoon.
All the riders went quicker than their times set in the opening session, as this morning the track was wet due to a rain shower a few hours earlier. But by the time the bad weather cleared the track dried up leaving the racer’s able to put down some solid lap times.
Gowland set a 1’28.678 and was two tenths quicker than Acumen’s Luke Jones who clocked the second fastest time with title challenger MarTrain Yamaha’s Alastair Seeley rounding up the top three with a 1’28.850 rotation.
Profile Racing’s Luke Stapleford and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger narrowly missed the top three, and had to settle for a time that was within the top five.
Gowland’s duelling team-mate, Billy McConnell only completed a total of seven laps, and missed out on a top ten time, after lapping inside the 1.30. The championship contender was two seconds off the best lap of Gowland, and ended the afternoon behind the Appleyard MacAdam backed bikes of Bjorn Estment and Jake Dixon.
Team Traction Control’s James Rispoli made his way inside the top ten, and was joined by Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin and Techcare’s Luke Mossey. Ruby Racing’s Josh Day was the quickest in the Evo class this afternoon.
