Brands BSB: Irving takes first Motostar win of the season

Redline KTM’s Joe Irving was the victor in the Motul British Motostar class at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this afternoon. He was able to out-pace Jordan Racing’s Jordan Weaving to take the win in the Moto3 class.

Throughout the 16 lap race in sunny conditions Irving was involved in a battle for the top spot on the rostrum not only with Weaving but with RS Racing Ryan Saxelby with the lead changing between the trio for most of the race. But in the end Irving managed to get a three second lead and pulled away leaving Saxelby and Weaving to fight it out amongst themselves.

It was not all bad news for Saxelby as he was able to take the 125 victory, his first in the series. Banks Racing’s Edward Randell and Fab Racing’s Bradley Ray completed the top three in the 125 category. FPW Racing’s Jayson Uribe rounded off the last place on the podium in the Moto3 class.

“I am really happy with what I managed to do today. I got a good start and even though I was overtaken I managed to get the drive and race pace to get the victory and I never looked back,” said Irving, speaking to bikesportnews.com

“I am so glad that its not raining today and the conditions were great or some good battles. I enjoyed the fight with Jordan Weaving and Ryan Saxelby but while they were battling each other I was able to push on ahead.

“But the race could not have gone any better and I had a good lead and managed to push away for the win - which is a great start for the year for me.”
