Brands BSB: Lights to flag Stock 1000 victory for Mackenzie

Buildbase BMW’s Taylor Mackenzie continued his dominant start to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship by backing up his third consecutive pole position with his second win of the year.

Mackenzie grabbed the holeshot and didn’t look back from there, narrowly missing out on a new lap record, but eventually taking the chequered flag two and half seconds clear of Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson.

Having made a poor start, Hutchinson was forced to battle past Michael Rutter in the opening stages of the race before eventually getting the better of his teammate Josh Elliott to grab second place.

As a result of grabbing second place, Hutchinson managed to limit Mackenzie extending of his title advantage to only five points. Therefore, heading into Donington Park next weekend, Mackenzie is eighteen points clear of the Bingley man.

Bathams BMW’s Michael Rutter held onto fourth place despite mounting pressure from Alex Olsen in the closing laps.

Morello Kawasaki’s Fraser Rogers fought off Josh Wainwright to claim sixth place, his best finish of the year, before Adam Jenkinson came through on his NEI Motorsport Kawasaki in eighth.

Rounding out the top ten were South African Hudson Kennaugh and Doncaster lad James Rose.
