Brands BSB: Rispoli happy with Yamaha Supersport switch

Team Traction Control’s James Rispoli has made the switch from Suzuki to the Yamaha R6 for the rest of the Motorpoint British Supersport championship. The American is riding the same machine used by Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes at the TT, and the youngster is already happy with the setup of the bike so far.

His team have hardly made any changes, but have tweaked with the settings slightly to make it more adaptable to the circuits - rather than the roads, but it is a case of so far so good for the Supersport racer. Even though he is a rookie to the series he is aiming for race wins, and believes he can get maximum points on the Yamaha.

“The bike is really good and fast. The R6 is working - it suits me and we haven’t made a lot of changes. When I first came over here I wanted to ride at the front, and I believe this bike can help me achieve that," said Rispoli, speaking to bikesportnews.com from Brands Hatch.

“It is Josh Brookes’ bike that he rode at the TT, and it is a great bike. It suits me and we have made some changes, but I know I can run with the top guys - and now I want to prove it to everyone, and I feel I can do that on this bike.

"We have tweaked it a bit to get it ready for circuit racing, but it is his bike and it was an easy choice for us. I feel really confident as I have got a good package underneath me and the bike feels a lot easier to ride. We have a good team here and I am back having fun, ripping some skids and pulling some wheelies. The bike feels a lot easier to ride and there is no pressure."
