Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford took his second Motorpoint British Supersport victory of the year after holding off CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde in the closing stages.
Stapleford managed to break clear mid race after Ryde made a poor start from pole position. Yesterday’s race winner managed to fight past both Glenn Irwin and Jake Dixon before breaking the lap record he set 24 hours ago.
Despite catching him in the closing stages and trying to dive through at Druids and Clearways, Stapleford held strong and took the chequered flag.
The Triumph rider now leads the championship by twelve points from Smiths Triumph’s Dixon, who completed the podium after scraping with Gearlink Kawasaki’s Irwin for the majority of the race.
TTC’s James Rispoli held on to fifth place after dicing with Gearlink Kawasaki’s Ben Wilson and Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb.
Webb was put on to the grass at Druids on the first lap after Sam Hornsey crashed out, but the former GP rider caught up Wilson and Rispoli with five laps remaining.
Wilson tried to go around the outside on the final lap and Webb looked for the inside but Rispoli took fifth, with Wilson sixth and Webb seventh.
South African Bjorn Estment won the EVO class in eighth after following Webb up to the battle for fifth place.
Appleyard Macadam’s Harry Hartley took ninth place and Joe Collier rounded out the top ten.
