Cadwell BSB: Buchan eases to Superstock 1000 win

Tsingtao Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan cruised to his sixth Pirelli National Superstock 1000 victory of the year. The vertically gifted rider took the lead from Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran on the first lap before posting numerous lap records on his way to the victory

Australian O’Halloran is yet to get the better of Buchan all year and knew he had to disrupt his rhythm early on. However, after relinquishing the lead to Buchan at Park corner on the first lap, he couldn’t get near to him. The Nandos lover eventually broke the lap record by one and a half seconds before the red flag came out after an incident at The Mountain.

With four rounds remaining, Buchan is now 48 points ahead of O’Halloran in the title standings.

The battle for the final podium spot raged on behind with reigning champion Hudson Kennaugh, Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson and Mancunian Adam Jenkinson all having their turn at leading the battle. Local lad Jackson dived past Jenkinson in the closing stages on the brakes at Park corner, and he managed to hold on as the red flag came out. Jenkinson had to settle for fourth, ahead of Kennaugh and Geordie Joe Burns.

Danny Johnson ended up in seventh on his first ride for the Morello Kawasaki squad, two tenths ahead of Scotsman Michael Robertson. Rounding out the top ten was Victor Cox and Bathams BMW’s Luke Quigley.
