Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford bagged pole position for this afternoon’s Motorpoint British Supersport sprint race, after bettering Triumph rival Jake Dixon by a quarter of a second.
Stapleford, who will looking for his fifth win on the bounce this afternoon, was languishing outside of the top five in the closing stages but with his penultimate lap, he leapt to the top of the timesheets.
Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon then came through seconds later to grab second, edging out CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde by 0.013 of a second.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin couldn’t replicate his free practice form and ended fourth on the grid; the high track temperatures playing their part in effecting bike setup from yesterday.
Traction Control’s James Rispoli will line up in the middle of row two, just a tenth outside of a front row spot and 0.379 behind the pole man, Stapleford.
Sam Hornsey will round out the second row of the grid despite crashing on the exit of Barn corner in the final minutes of the session.
Northern Irishman Andy Reid fronts the third row of the grid ahead of local favourite Ben Wilson, with Jamie Perrin bagging an impressive ninth place on the grid, his best qualifying of the year, on his EVO machine.
