Donington BSB: Buchan edges Cooper to take Stock 1000 Endurance win

Morello Racing's Danny Buchan leads the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship after winning  the debut Endurance event at Donington Park.

The tall Essex lad was pushed hard by Bennetts Suzuki's Richard Cooper, who came second in both races, followed by road racing legend, Michael Rutter. The battle for the victory continued until the very last lap, with a tiny 0.04 seconds separating the former BSB racer's, Buchan and Cooper.

The format of the race is that there are two 18 lap races,  back-to-back with a pit stop in between. The teams are able to change tyres and  top up on fuel, before going out again for another race.

The points are halved for each race, so it is 15 points for a win and ten for coming second and so forth. But for those who also place in the podium positions in the final race they have bonus points of five, three and one.

Newcastle's finest, Chrissy Rouse finished second in both events this afternoon, in mixed conditions. In the first part of the Endurance race Rogers, Tunstall, Rispoli, Law, Phillips and Elliot were the top ten finishers.

In the final part, multiple TT winner, Ian Hutchinson made his way up the grid with three laps remaining and ended in fifth, followed by Law, Beech, Rogers, Rispoli and Hedger.
