Tsingtao Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan looks set to wrap up the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 title this weekend at Donington Park following another victory yesterday’s at Silverstone’s MotoGP round.
The Essex boy has a 53-point lead over Honda’s Jason O’Halloran with three races left, so he only needs to be 51 ahead of the Australian when he leaves the Leicestershire circuit on Sunday night.
“It would be nice to get it done this weekend but we will have to see who is quick and who isn’t. It’s not the be all and end all but after this there is a month’s break as we don’t go to Assen so it would be good to have that done before the lay-off,” said Buchan, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
Even if he does do the deed, he won’t be jumping straight back on the team's Hampshire Motorcycles-backed Superbike for the last couple of rounds, preferring to stay on the Superstocker and look at his options for next year.
“We are talking to a few people about next year. We haven’t got as far as any offers but there are some options to move into BSB. I am 21 now so I think the time is right to have a proper go.”
