Levi Day nabbed his first Ducati TriOptions Cup victory yesterday as he held off charges from Lewis Rollo and Sean Neary.
The Australian went without a win last season as Joe Collier ran away with the one-make title, finishing third in the series behind veteran Phil Atkinson.
Day took advantage of a solid start on the front row and grabbed the hole shot, dicing with pole-sitter Rollo before pulling ahead as Josh Wainwright followed closely behind.
Rollo made lunges at every opportunity on the first lap, but Day eventually settled into the lead as they came across the line for lap one.
Series regular and former race winner Sean Neary cut his way through the order and slipped by Highsparks Motorsport’s Rollo to take second on lap three as it looked like the Zoek Racing Team man could hold on to second.
But Scotsman Rollo wasn’t finished yet - the former Superstock 1000 rider pipped Neary late in the race and laid down the fastest lap of the race, but wasn’t able to have a lunge for the lead.
Boast Plumbing’s Day crossed the line 0.889s clear of Rollo to take his maiden win in the series as Rollo held on to second in his Ducati Cup debut, ahead of Nearly in third.
