Donington BSB: Deroue takes Motostar pole

Redline KTM’s Scott Deroue will start Monday’s opening HEL British Motostar race from pole position.

The Dutchman, making only his second appearance in the class after a wildcard on home soil in Assen three years ago, topped the time sheets by a quarter of a second.

Joining Deroue on the front row is team-mate Bradley Ray. 17 year old Ray is due to compete in the Spanish Moto2 Championship this year but was offered a one-off ride by the Redline KTM squad.

RS Racing’s Taz Taylor rounds out the front row, 0.849 of a second adrift of the pole man.

Jorel Boerboom on his FPW Racing Kalex KTM fronts the second row of the grid after failing to improve on his time from yesterday’s first qualifying session.

The Dutchman managed to hold off Spanish debutant Dani Saez, who is riding for the Repli-Cast Moto3 team.

Saez’s teammate, Charlie Nesbitt, will start from the outside of the second row. Nesbitt, who is backed by MotoGP rider Scott Redding, ended up nine thousandths of a second behind his team mate after jumping to sixth in the closing stages of the final session.

Reigning British 125 Champion Ed Rendell will make his Moto3 debut from seventh on the grid, ahead of Joseph Thompson and the leading 125 rider, JPL Racing’s Josh Owens.
