Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon has followed up his debut podium yesterday with his first ever Motorpoint British Supersport victory after a race long battle with Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford.
The Dover lad was on pole position and took full advantage, taking the holeshot in to Redgate.
Yesterday’s race winner Luke Stapleford then grabbed back the advantage from Dixon before the pair broke clear from CF Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde and Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin.
The pair swapped places numerous times before Stapleford made a mistake at the Melbourne Loop allowing Dixon to break clear by over a second.
Stapleford tried to claw back Dixon’s advantage but Dixon only broke further clear by posting the fastest lap of the race in the closing stages.
The Smiths Triumph rider eventually came home 1.2 seconds clear to clinch his debut win in the middleweight series.
Ryde got past Stapleford on the penultimate lap at the Melbourne Loop but Stapleford replied immediately at Goddards.
Profile Triumph’s Stapleford held on to second and with that takes a joint championship lead with Jake Dixon in to Brands Hatch.
Irwin came through in fourth place ahead of Andy Reid who pipped Ben Wilson to fifth place for the second time in two days.
Traction Control Yamaha’s James Rispoli put yesterday’s disappointment behind him to take seventh place, with Appleyard Macadam’s Harry Hartley closing following him through in eighth.
Joe Collier clinched EVO victory in ninth place ahead of a battered and bruised Danny Webb.
