Honda Racing’s Jason O’Halloran took his first Pirelli National Superstock 1000 victory of the year and cut Tsingtao Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan’s championship lead down to 28 points, after the Essex lad crashed out at Craner Curves on the first lap.
Buchan grabbed the holeshot from pole position but his race lasted just three corners. The vertically gifted rider needed a victory to wrap up the championship but after a cold tyre caught him out on the first lap at Craner Curves, meaning the title has been blown wide open. Two races remain and O’Halloran is in with a shout.
O’Halloran was put under pressure from Adam Jenkinson throughout but the Aussie held on to the lead before the red flag was brought out with two laps remaining. Dave Johnson had an incident with Sam West ending in the Aussie hitting the deck at Hollywood.
Lee Jackson appeared to be chasing in the leading duo, having set a new lap record after passing Freddy Foray for fourth. However, after getting past Joe Burns, the Lincoln lad ran wide at Goddards and ending his charge for the victory.
Burns fought off Jackson to claim third, his first podium of the year. Outgoing champion Hudson Kennaugh picked up fifth place ahead of Freddy Foray and Josh Elliot. Abpac Kawasaki’s Victor Cox took the chequered flag in eighth place, with Dan Johnson getting the better of Luke Quigley for ninth.
