Donington BSB: Verwey steals Junior Supersport win from McGlinchey

Kade Verwey stole victory from the fingertips of Eunan McGlinchy in this afternoon’s Dickies Junior Supersport race, keeping the Irishman from a weekend clean sweep.

As it looks to be for the rest of the season, today’s eight-lap scrap was a fight for slipstream glory as the Verwey brothers, McGlinchey and Edmund Best were at it again.

McGlinchey hit the front from pole position, with the three protagonists tucked in right behind as they jostled for position at every opportunity.

But Best took the lead on lap three, before Kade levered him aside on lap four and took control of the race.

Despite the back-and-forth fight for the front, Team XG Racing Kawasaki’s Kade held onto the top spot. But disaster struck for his brother Luke when he high-sided out of the podium fight at Redgate on lap five.

With nothing between the remaining three, Team #109’s McGlinchey shoved his way past Kade on the tenth and final lap, intent on doing the double.

But with a few bike lengths’ lead, Sunday’s winner went a bit too deep into Goddards, leaving room for Kade to slip through and nip victory from McGlinchey by 0.099s as SymCirrus Motorsport’s Best nabbed third just 0.095s further back.
