Georgina Polden to contest British Motostar series

Seventeen year-old Georgina Polden from Oxford is making a name for herself in the British motorcycle racing scene as she embarks on her ambition to be the first British female MotoGP rider.

The Oxfordshire teenager is currently lying third in the Dunlop Aprilia Superteen Championship despite being in only her second year of circuit racing and has impressed British MotoGP star Bradley Smith.

Also she has recently been snapped up by RS Racing to contest the remaining rounds of the Motul Motostar British Championship which supports the prestigious British Superbike Championship after a very promising debut at Brands Hatch recently.

With three victories in the hotly contested Motors TV televised Superteen Championship already under her belt Georgina will make her second appearance in the Motostar series this weekend riding a 125cc Honda at the ultra-fast and challenging Snetterton track in Norfolk.

“Bradley has been a massive help and support to me and at the beginning even lent me his old leathers,” said Georgina. “I still have a lot to learn but I honestly don’t see myself as any different from the other riders when racing and it just doesn’t faze me in fact I like wet conditions more.”

Smith added: “I knew she was tough from watching her motocross and she has made the switch very easily to the track, everything feels very natural to her which is really important if she wants to be successful. I would encourage people to support and get involved with Georgina as she clearly has the talent and determination to succeed.”
